Logan Star Hugh Jackman Gives The Final Word On Rumored Deadpool/Wolverine Crossover

Hugh Jackman has shut down rumors of a potential Deadpool/Wolverine crossover movie while conducting a Q&A session for Logan.

It’s no secret that Wade Wilson and Hugh Jackman’s Logan have a history together, one that can be traced back to the wholly forgettable X-Men Origins: Wolverine. For many, it was an opportunity squandered, and though early reports indicated that the Merc With a Mouth was set to swing back for a cameo role in Wolverine’s last stand, writer-director James Mangold quickly nipped that rumor on the bud.

That was two months ago and since then, there have been rumblings that Ryan Reynolds and Hugh Jackman would get together at some point in the not-so-distant future for a Deadpool/Wolverine crossover movie. Sounds too good to be true? That’s because it is, according to Jackman, who cooled talks of a potential team-up film while hosting a Q&A session for Logan. And so, after soliciting questions regarding Wolverine’s swan song, not to mention Dafne Keen’s scene-stealing debut as Laura (X-23), the Aussie actor addressed any and all lingering rumors head on.

“No, and Ryan is currently sleeping outside my house. Look, if that movie had appeared 10 years ago, probably a different story, but I knew two and a half years ago that this was the last one. The first call I made was to [Logan director James Mangold]. I said, ‘Jim, I got one more shot at this,’ and as soon as Jim came up with the idea and we worked on it, I was never more excited. But, it feels like the right time. Deadpool, go for it man, do your thing. You don’t need me.”

Chances are, that proposed crossover movie will forever remain a pipedream. One thing worth noting though is that Hugh Jackman’s open to the idea of Wolverine being recast further down the line, so perhaps Ryan Reynolds’ Deadpool has a shot of joining forces with a new, younger version of the character? Time will tell.

Logan is all set to claw its way into theaters on March 3rd and, despite reports to the contrary, won’t come packing a post-credits scene after all. How does Wolverine’s swan song stack up? Read our official review to find out.
