The Merc Is Back In The First Deadpool 2 Trailer

After leaking online yesterday, 20th Century Fox has now released the official Deadpool 2 teaser trailer that's attached to Logan. As you've no doubt heard by now, it's actually more of a promo, simply presenting us with a single scene that won't be in the final cut of the film. Still, it's our first look at the sequel and perhaps most importantly, it gives us an idea of what director David Leitch, who's replacing Tim Miller, will be bringing to the table.

After leaking online yesterday, 20th Century Fox has now released the official Deadpool 2 teaser trailer that’s attached to Logan. As you’ve no doubt heard already, it’s actually more of a promo, simply presenting us with a single scene that won’t be in the final cut of the film. Still, it’s our first look at the sequel and perhaps most importantly, it gives us an idea of what director David Leitch, who’s replacing Tim Miller, will be bringing to the table.

Featuring Ryan Reynolds as the titular hero, the clip opens with a pair of thugs fighting in the street. Cloaked under a black hoody a la Luke Cage, Deadpool then decides to intervene, at which point the Merc with a Mouth makes a beeline for the nearest phone booth to change into his iconic red costume. Not all goes according to plan, though.

By the time Wade slips into his superhero guise, gunshots have erupted in the nearby alleyway. Cue the heroic slow-motion jog towards the action – but, as Deadpool arrives on the scene, he finds that one man has already bit the bullet. It’s at this point that Ryan Reynolds’ character smashes through the fourth wall to address the audience directly, before the teaser ends with the line: “Deadpool…coming…not soon enough.” Oh, and there’s also a quick, hilarious Stan Lee cameo that you can keep an eye out for.

Those who saw the promo in theaters will notice a few differences here. For one, the music used in the slo-motion scene has been changed, while Lee’s appearance is also something new. Not only that, but it seems that a few more jokes have been added in as well for this version. Why Fox decided to release two different cuts of the teaser is unknown, but they both make for a great introduction to Deadpool 2 and will no doubt send fans into a frenzy.

While some may be disappointed that we didn’t get a proper trailer for the sequel, releasing something like this is a smart move on the studio’s part. There’s been some concerning reports coming out about the film lately and people have been getting anxious to see some kind of footage or promotional material. This may not be quite as good as the real thing, but it still shows us that Deadpool 2 will be dark and irreverent in precisely the same way as the original, which is exactly what fans want to see.

Hopefully, the release of this promo means that some casting news will be headed our way soon. Shooting is set to get underway this spring, after all, so we imagine it won’t be too much longer now before we learn who’s playing Cable and Domino. Until then, however, check out the video above and be sure to leave a comment letting us know what you think of it.
