What you may not know is that before joining the DC TV Universe, both Melissa Benoist and Grant Gustin starred in musical series Glee. As a result, they both have some singing experience and will put their voices to work in an episode which will see the heroes trapped in a bizarre new world.

For more on what to expect from this episode of The Flash – titled “Duet” – here’s the official synopsis courtesy of The CW:

Barry (Grant Gustin) and team are surprised when Mon-El (guest star Chris Wood) and Hank Henshaw (guest star David Harewood) arrive on their Earth carrying a comatose Supergirl (guest star Melissa Benoist) who was whammied by the Music Meister (guest star Darren Criss). Unable to wake her up, they turn to Team Flash to save her. However, the Music Meister surprises The Flash and puts him in a similar coma, one that Team Flash can’t cure. Kara and Barry wake up without their powers in an alternate reality where life is like a musical and the only way to escape is by following the script, complete with singing and dancing, to the end. Dermott Downs directed the episode with story by Greg Berlanti & Andrew Kreisberg and teleplay by Aaron Helbing & Todd Helbing.

As of right now, the only confirmed cast members who will be singing are Grant Gustin (The Flash), Jesse L. Martin (Detective Joe West), Carlos Valdes (Vibe), Melissa Benoist (Supergirl), Jeremy Jordan (Winn Schott), John Barrowman (Malcolm Merlyn) and Victor Garber (Martin Stein). That’s a pretty fun mix, and if nothing else, this should be a really unique episode.

Fans of Supernatural will know that the network has no trouble delivering some awesome standalone stories capable of breaking the mould, so Supergirl and The Flash being able to do the same seems pretty probable. For now, you can check out the first promo above and be sure to tune in when “Duet” airs on March 21st.
