The U.S.S. Discovery has today welcomed aboard former Harry Potter alum Jason Isaacs for CBS’ upcoming Star Trek: Discovery series. He’ll play Captain Lorca, the captain of the show’s main Federation starship.

Isaacs may be the captain, but he’s not necessarily the focus of CBS’ freshman drama; instead, that onus falls on The Walking Dead’s Sonequa Martin-Green, who signed on to play Lorca’s Number One, Lieutenant Commander Rainsford, late last year. Juggling two high-profiles roles across Discovery and AMC’s flagship zombie series has raised concerns that Martin-Green will be forced to bow out of the latter show, but at least for the time being, the actress remains committed to both. Isaacs, meanwhile, recently made a foray onto the small screen for Netflix sci-fi drama The OA.

Joining Isaacs and Sonequa Martin-Green on deck for Star Trek: Discovery are Doug Jones (Crimson Peak, Falling Skies, Buffy the Vampire Slayer), Michelle Yeoh, Chris Obi, Shazad Latif, Mary Chieffo, Anthony Rapp and James Frain. The star-studded ensemble doesn’t end there, though, after we caught wind of Maulik Pancholy (30 Rock), Terry Serpico (Sneaky Pete), and Sam Vartholomeos all closing deals to star back in February.

Originally on course to launch CBS All Access back in January – the network filled Discovery‘s slot with The Good Wife spinoff, The Good Fight Star Trek: Discovery has been pegged back by production woes, most notably when Bryan Fuller stepped down as showrunner. In his place, Aaron Harberts and Gretchen Berg have been elected co-showrunners, and with Jason Isaacs now ready to occupy the captain’s chair, Discovery is well on its way to a fall premiere.

Twice delayed, Star Trek: Discovery will premiere via CBS All Access later in 2017.
