With yet another movie featuring your favorite “A-holes” set to grace cinemas in a matter of weeks, Marvel certainly knows how to strike while the iron is hot. In fact, they’ve decided to debut All-New Guardians of the Galaxy just days before its film counterpart opens in theaters.

Written by Gerry Duggan (Deadpool, Uncanny Avengers) and illustrated by Aaron Kuder (Death of X), this new series unites the same lineup seen in the movie – Star-Lord, Drax the Destroyer, Gamora, Rocket Raccoon and Groot – as they “blast their way through the galaxy, where they’ll find that it won’t be long before trouble finds them! With the new Nova Corps hot on their tail and a war between the Elders of the Universe, thing have changed out on the edges of space!”

If you were to ask me, this sounds like the perfect jumping on point for new readers. Well, aside from maybe the recently released Treasury Edition that collected several introductory issues from recent runs, that is.

Moving on, series editor Jordan D. White had this to say:

“I cannot tell you how excited I am for this book! Gerry and Aaron have been working on this puppy in secret for months, and they’ve cooked up a series that will be the spine of the Marvel cosmic universe, while still being rooted in the great Guardians characters we love. And maybe even a surprise addition to the team eventually, too…”

All-New Guardians of the Galaxy is set to arrive in comic shops on Wednesday, May 3.
