Titans And Young Justice: Outsiders Lead The Way For New DC Digital Service

Having dominated The CW's prime time lineup in recent years, it appears as though DC is ready to broaden its horizon with a new digital service that'll be launched by Warner Bros. Digital Networks in 2018. And, from what we can tell, they intend to storm out of the gate, having announced Titans and Young Justice: Outsiders to be the vanguards of this new initiative.

Having dominated The CW’s prime time lineup in recent years, it appears as though DC is ready to broaden its horizon with a new digital service that’ll be launched by Warner Bros. Digital Networks in 2018. And, from what we can tell, they intend to storm out of the gate, having announced Titans and Young Justice: Outsiders to be the vanguards of this new initiative.

First, let us discuss Titans, which, from the sound of it, looks to be very similar to the project that never saw the light of day over at TNT. This live action series will come to us via the creative collective that is Arrowverse mastermind Greg Berlanti, DC president and chief creative officer Geoff Johns, Akiva Goldsman and Sarah Schechter, and is said to follow “a group of young soon-to-be superheroes recruited from every corner of the DC Universe.”

And although the entire lineup of the team has yet to be disclosed, we do know that “Dick Grayson emerges from the shadows to become the leader of a fearless band of new heroes that includes Starfire, Raven and others.” Having digested that, it sounds like we may very well see him transition from the Robin persona to that of Nightwing, but we’re still awaiting confirmation on that front. Still, this coupled with the upcoming Nightwing movie is undoubtedly making the dreams of myself and legions of fans come true. Think about it: We’ve waited an eternity to see Nightwing in live action, and now we may very well get two of them.

As for Young Justice: Outsiders, this is indeed the third season of the beloved animated series that was recently confirmed to be resurrected. Brought to us by Sam Register, series creators Brandon Vietti and Greg Weisman, and art director Phil Bourassa, “the team faces its greatest challenge as it takes on meta-human trafficking and the terrifying threat it creates for a society caught in the crossfire of a genetic arms race spanning the globe and the galaxy.” Hey, as long as Darkseid is involved as teased at the end of season 2’s cliffhanger, we’re all in.

We fully expect much, much more information to come to light between now and 2018, and we’ll be sure to bring you all relevant news pertaining to both Titans and Young Justice: Outsiders as it trickles in, so be sure to stay tuned.
