Charlie Hunnam Wants A Cameo On Game Of Thrones

With the amount of experience and impressive credits Charlie Hunnam's got under his belt, you'd think that the actor would be A-list material by now. Unfortunately, though, he isn't there quite yet. Not for a lack of trying, mind you. After seven long seasons on FX's Sons of Anarchy, Hunnam is now making a big push into the world of film. He did have some notable roles in the past (Pacific Rim, Crimson Peak), but with his television commitments now behind him, he's free to take on a lot more big screen projects.

With the amount of experience and impressive credits Charlie Hunnam’s got under his belt, you’d think that the actor would be A-list material by now. Unfortunately, though, he isn’t there quite yet. This year, we’ve already seen him in The Lost City of Z and today sees the release of another new movie starring the actor: King Arthur: Legend of the Sword. Set to be a franchise starter for Warner Bros., the reviews haven’t been too kind thus far and box office predictions are underwhelming. That doesn’t necessarily mean it’ll be the last time Hunnam suits up as the titular king, but the chances of a sequel certainly aren’t looking too good.

The actor should escape relatively unscathed though, as he’s a talented individual who’s got a pretty big fanbase thanks to his time on FX’s show. And while he doesn’t have too many roles lined up at the moment, one place we might be seeing him show up in the future is Game of Thrones. During a recent interview to promote King Arthur, Hunnam revealed his desire to cameo on the hit fantasy series.

“I would love to do a Game of Thrones cameo, they offered me a cameo on that show a little while ago but I was shooting something else, so I wasn’t able to do it. But maybe in the future, who knows,” Hunnam told The Sun.

Of course, just because the actor is up for appearing on the show doesn’t mean that it’ll happen. After all, who wouldn’t want to cameo on one of the hottest series on television?  Still, the fact that HBO approached him in the past does mean that there’s some interest, so who knows? Plus, Game of Thrones is no stranger to cameos, as fans can tell you, and Hunnam could very easily fit into the rough and dark world of Westeros.

What’s also interesting to note is that HBO is currently planning several Thrones spinoffs. We don’t know much about them just yet, but it wouldn’t be too much of a stretch to think that Hunnam could possibly sign on for one of those. After all, it doesn’t look like Warner Bros.’ franchise plans for King Arthur will go ahead, so perhaps the actor will decide to go back to television for a bit?

For now, this cameo is nothing more than wishful thinking on Hunnam’s part, but we are intrigued by his comments. The more we think about it, he’d actually be perfect for one of the upcoming Game of Thrones spinoffs and if plans for the King Arthur franchise end up fizzling out, which they very well may, HBO just might try to make it happen.
