Frank Miller’s Sin City Earmarked For TV Reboot, Will Seemingly Be A Big Departure From Films

Just when you thought A Dame to Kill For, Frank Miller and Robert Rodriguez’s long-in-development movie sequel that launched a full nine years after its predecessor, had sentenced the property to an early grave, Deadline brings word today that Miller’s über-stylish Sin City series is headed to television.

TWC/Dimension has officially got the ball rolling, after drafting in Glen Mazzara (The Walking Dead, The Omen) to conjure up a story that will reportedly align itself more with the original graphic novels. Expect a fairly radical departure from the all-too-brief Sin City movie series, then, and we understand that Underworld helmer Len Wiseman has agreed a deal to direct. Still no mention of an episode count or a premiere window at this early stage, but it’s worth mentioning that Wiseman has cut his teeth on the small screen before, and has amassed directing credits across both Sleepy Hollow and Fox’s supernatural drama, Lucifer. Stephen L’Heureux (Sin City: A Dame to Kill For) will oversee production, and is one part of a producing team that includes Frank Miller himself, Mazzara, Wiseman and Bob & Harvey Weinstein.

So, there you have it; three short years after A Dame to Kill For generated little more than lukewarm reviews, TWC/Dimension is gearing up for another crack at the Sin City universe.

Mazarra is no doubt a fine choice to craft a story based on Frank Miller’s legendary, jet-black series, what with his extensive experience across The Walking Dead and FX drama The Shield. Deadline closes out its report by noting that the Powers That Be are keen to explore various characters and timelines from the source material, so there’s no telling how much potential Mazarra and Co. will find lurking in the black-and-white pages of Miller’s graphic novels.
