Jessica Lucas Wants To See Bane Appear On Gotham

From its inception, one thing that has remained true regarding Gotham is that the Batman prequel series has certainly boasted no shortage of villains. Aside from having the likes of Penguin, Riddler, Poison Ivy and the Mad Hatter comprising its principal cast, beloved rogues such as Mr. Freeze, Firefly and Hugo Strange have played key guest roles, to name but a few.

With the show now having been confirmed as returning for a fourth season, we’ll undoubtedly see more baddies from the comics showing up at some point and not surprisingly, the cast themselves have their own wishlists, as actress Jessica Lucas (Tabitha Galavan) recently divulged who she one day hopes to see in an interview with Dark Knight News:

“Bane! Can you imagine? I know time-wise, that may not be right… but maybe someone to face Bruce Wayne or Gordon who has the steroid, who has that strength and power.”

Well, she’s right about it not lining up with what we think as being the canonical timeline, but Gotham has long established itself as being a re-imagining. With all of the villains already listed in this article being matured adults, it wouldn’t really matter if Bane were to be older than Bruce Wayne at this point, playing into the joke often made by fans saying that this version of Batman will be beating up old guys once he dons cape and cowl.

Beyond that, it was refreshing to hear that Lucas is a lover of the source material, much like co-star David Mazouz:

“Oh, I was a fan! I loved Batman growing up. The comics, the stories. I watched the animated show. Now we’re doing our thing and adding to the story.”

Gotham airs on Monday nights on Fox.
