Skeet Ulrich Promoted To Series Regular For Riverdale Season 2

Although he wasn't part of the principal cast during the show's inaugural season, it's undeniable that Skeet Ulrich's FP Jones was probably one of the most important guest characters to have appeared on Riverdale. While simultaneously giving his onscreen son, Jughead, a bit more pathos, this major player from the Southside Serpents also served as a red herring in the mystery surrounding Jason Blossom's murder.

Although he wasn’t part of the principal cast during the show’s inaugural season, it’s undeniable that Skeet Ulrich’s FP Jones was probably one of the most important guest characters to have appeared on Riverdale. While simultaneously giving his onscreen son, Jughead, a bit more pathos, this major player from the Southside Serpents also served as a red herring in the mystery surrounding Jason Blossom’s murder.

Fortunately, the producers settled on Clifford Blossom being the killer because, quite frankly, FP would’ve been the easy way out. As such, the door is open to further explore Ulrich’s character despite the fact that he’s still incarcerated due to having played a role in the conspiracy.

With that, we’re happy to report that Ulrich, like Casey Cott (Kevin Keller), has been promoted to a series regular for season 2. Executive producer Sarah Schechter had this to say about the promotion:

“We so loved having Skeet on Riverdale last year, that we couldn’t imagine Riverdale without him. He’s a stellar actor and we feel we have just scratched the surface of who FP is. We are excited to have Skeet continue on this journey and we can’t wait for the audience to see what he is up to this year.”

Had you been watching to this point, you’d know that FP is quite the complicated fellow, so she isn’t wrong there. Still, with him being behind bars, we’re not sure how much he can do unless a clever attorney is able to spring him, but there’s still much to be settled between both him and Jughead. Needless to say, we’re all interested to see how he’ll react to seeing his son in a Serpents jacket.

Although no premiere date for Riverdale has been nailed down as of yet, it’s known that it’ll move to Wednesday nights at 8 pm this fall on The CW.
