So, while we wait to learn what new threat could possibly require the attention of so many heroes, a new image that Arrow executive producer and co-showrunner Marc Guggenheim recently posted to Twitter should certainly help fuel speculation. Captioned with “Already starting work on Arrowverse crossover 2017,” it features a closeup on a black costume being assembled, one that looks a heck of a lot like the one sported by Oliver Queen himself during his nighttime exploits.

If you were paying close attention to the trailer for Arrow season 6 that dropped at San Diego Comic-Con last month, you’d have noticed that aside from any possible slight alterations, Oliver was still wearing his costume from season 5 in the new footage that was included. One possibility is that he’ll get a new suit in the crossover itself, but as badass as this one looks to be, it’d sure take the “Green” out of “Green Arrow.”

The other possibility is that we’re about to meet a doppelganger of his or someone close to him. Let it be known that Oliver died when the Queen’s Gambit went down on Earth-2 and that his father went on to become a vigilante, so we can’t rule out seeing him. Or we could be witness to a live action appearance made by the evil Arrow of Earth-X soon to be seen on the animated web series, Freedom Fighters: The Ray. Only time will tell, but there are endless options to consider when so many Earths have yet to be explored.

2017’s DC TV crossover begins on Monday, November 27 with Supergirl and Arrow, and will conclude on Tuesday, November 28 with The Flash and Legends of Tomorrow.
