With the release of Star Wars: The Last Jedi quickly approaching, fans are beginning to get antsy given the lack of official promotional material we’ve seen from the hugely anticipated sequel. Sure, we’ve had a deluge of tie-in merch, as well as an all too brief teaser trailer and an exciting behind the scenes reel, but aside from that and a few photos, there really hasn’t been much. Thankfully, though, that’s about to change.
All signs point to Lucasfilm gearing up to really open the floodgates on us as far as their marketing campaign goes and today seems to be the first step in that. Seen in the gallery below are 22 hi-res images pulled straight from Rian Johnson’s upcoming chapter into the iconic sci-fi saga. Admittedly, most of these have been released before either in lo-res or with watermarks, or both, but if it’s anything and everything from that galaxy far, far away that you’re after, we definitely suggest browsing through them.
From Luke to Kylo, and Poe to Finn, there’s a lot to dig into here. Be it shots from the film itself or snaps taken behind the scenes, Star Wars fans should be pretty pleased with this new batch of photos. Again, a lot of them may look familiar, but if nothing else, they should help tide you over until the marketing blitz really begins.
Star Wars: The Last Jedi lights up theaters on December 15th and is one of three major Star Wars projects in active development – the other two being Lucasfilm’s Han Solo origin story and the so-far untitled Episode IX.
The latter has been subjected to some fairly drastic changes of late, after J.J. Abrams (and screenwriter Chris Terrio!) was drafted in to fill the director’s chair left vacant by Colin Trevorrow. A new, December 2019 release date has also been confirmed, which tees up a potentially huge box office clash with the so-far unnamed Wonder Woman sequel. And yes, Patty Jenkins will take point at the helm for Diana’s second solo movie following that record-setting deal.
