Wonder Woman All But Confirmed For Barry Allen Solo Movie Flashpoint

Gal Gadot has entered early negotiations to star opposite Bradley Cooper (Guardians of the Galaxy) in MGM drama Deeper, according to Deadline.

Of course, that’s not all that relevant to the DC Extended Universe, but buried in Deadline’s scoop was further confirmation that Gadot’s Wonder Woman will have a role to play in Flashpoint, the Barry Allen solo movie that received a huge facelift back at July’s San Diego Comic-Con.

Despite losing two big-name directors – first Seth Grahame-Smith, then Dope helmer Rick Famuyiwa – the decision to adopt DC’s famous “Flashpoint” arc has restored our faith in the Flash spinoff, one that will surely have massive ramifications for the wider DCEU as we know it. Toss Diana Prince into the mix and you have a potentially cracking origin story for Ezra Miller’s whip-smart crusader.

Gadot is riding high after starring in Wonder Woman. She will reprise in the Patty Jenkins-directed sequel and DC spinoffs including the Justice League films and the spinoff for The Flash.

That untitled Wonder Woman sequel has already set sights on December 2019, when DC’s famous Amazonian will be squaring off against Star Wars: Episode IX for box office supremacy. Common logic dictates that Flashpoint will remain on Warner’s back-burner until at least 2020, at which point the DCEU will encompass the likes of Shazam! and, presumably, The Batman solo movie from writer-director Matt Reeves.

Flashpoint is yet to lock down an official release date at Warner Bros., but DC fans can at least look forward to the launch of Justice League in November. Emerging from a storied production, during which time Zack Snyder handed over the baton to Joss Whedon, early reactions have championed it as an “epic” addition to the DC Extended Universe.
