Westworld Actress Reaffirms Spring 2018 Premiere For Season 2

Westworld, the mind-boggling theme park where dreams are built and fantasies are fulfilled, will swing its doors back open in the spring of 2018.

That’s according to lead star Evan Rachel Wood (Dolores Abernathy), who reaffirmed season 2’s vague release window via Twitter (with a tip of the hat to Screen Rant). No other details were given – Wood’s tweet literally contains the words ‘spring 2018’ and nothing else – but it does align with HBO’s announcement that took place at SDCC back in July.

Said to be twice as ambitious as the first, Westworld season 2 is all set to dive deep into the history of the park itself, including Ford’s (Anthony Hopkins) relentless pursuit of totally sentient artificial intelligence. And though it may ditch the multi-strand timeline that underpinned season 1 – thank heavens, as Westworld‘s debut was, at times, a bitch to keep track of – we’re confident that series creators Lisa Joy and Jonathan Nolan still have a few tricks up their collective sleeve.

As for when season 2 will get underway, Evan Rachel Wood recently assured viewers that Westworld‘s sophomore outing will make its bow early next year.

In related news, filming on season 2 was recently interrupted in the wake of a “medical emergency,” which reportedly involved a recurring cast member. The incident only affected one of two HBO units, so it’s reassuring to know that that spring 2018 due date is still in place despite this unfortunate accident.

Casting-wise, we know James Marsden, Jeffrey Wright, Tessa Thompson (Thor: Ragnarok), Sidse Babett Knudsen, Jimmi Simpson, Rodrigo Santoro, Shannon Woodward, Luke Hemsworth, Clifton Collins, Jr., Talulah Riley and Louis Herthum are all expected to return in some capacity.

Season 2 of Westworld will boot online via HBO this spring. If those early reports hold true, it’ll herald a bloodbath of epic proportions, as the Hosts begin to seize control of the Wild West. And that’s before you even consider the other parks incubating within the bowels of Delos.
