Ah, the Avengers: Infinity War trailer.
At this point, it’s almost the stuff of legend, with seemingly each new week bringing with it a proposed date for when we may see it, only to have that date come and go with nothing popping up. Kevin Feige did promise that it’d be here before the end of 2017, but that’s quickly approaching and still, Marvel hasn’t given us any indication of when it may debut.
What exactly they’re waiting for is still unclear, but it would seem as if Thor: Ragnarok is at least partially to blame for the delay. Why’s that? Well, as those who’ve seen the threequel – and we imagine that’s most of you – will know, a trailer for Infinity War could potentially ruin a major event in the God of Thunder’s latest big screen outing.

So, what exactly would a trailer for the next Avengers movie give away? Well, as you know, Thor loses his eye in Ragnarok, and while the footage that was shown at SDCC had the Avenger with both eyes in tact, the first official trailer for the film presumably won’t.
That’s because we imagine that the Comic-Con preview didn’t have all the final VFX in it, which would make sense. Given that the actual trailer for Infinity War will include all that, Thor won’t have his eye and Marvel obviously wouldn’t want something like that to be spoiled before people have had the chance to see Ragnarok.
Now that the pic is out in theaters though, does that mean we might get the first trailer for Joe and Anthony Russo’s superhero extravaganza sooner rather than later? We imagine that’d be the case, but again, the studio hasn’t given us any indication as to when they’re planning to debut it and aside from Feige’s promise of before the end of the year, all we can do right now is speculate as to when it may finally arrive.
