New Theory Suggests Avengers: Infinity War’s Teaser Alludes To Four Major Deaths

ComicBook.com is asserting that the epic first teaser for Avengers: Infinity War alludes to four major character deaths that will occur in 2018.

“There was an idea: to bring together a group of remarkable people.”

Nick Fury’s call to arms was perhaps the perfect way to open the epic and indeed record-breaking first teaser for Avengers: Infinity War, but a new theory compiled by the folks at ComicBook.com suggests that Marvel’s buzzworthy reveal actually alludes to four major character deaths. Grab the tinfoil hats and get comfortable, it’s speculation time!

If, like us, you’ve watched the Infinity War footage ten times over, you’ll know Samuel L. Jackson’s rousing speech is echoed by four key members of the Avengers: Iron Man, Vision, Thor and Scarlett Johansson’s Black Widow. And ComicBook.com is now alleging that those four heroes weren’t just picked at random.

In fact, this admittedly vague theory proposes that Iron Man, Vision, Thor and Black Widow will be the first to fall at the hands of Thanos – simply because they feature prominently just before the Marvel Studios logo looms into view. Although, that’s not strictly true, as yesterday’s trailer showed Thor and Iron Man clashing with Thanos, before Vision is stripped of his all-powerful Infinity Stone.

Meanwhile, Black Widow was placed in the company of Hulk and a bearded Captain America as they charged in to defend Wakanda. And as much as we love Johansson’s kick-ass agent, Romanoff doesn’t exactly boast the same superhuman strength or impenetrable skin as her fellow Avengers.

Still, Black Widow has fought off Ultron’s minions and the Chitauri and lived to tell the tale, so it’d be foolish to write off her chances of survival. And let’s face it, with Thanos and the Black Order (read: Corvus Glaive, Ebony Maw, Proxima Midnight, and Cull Obsidian) bound for Earth, no one is truly safe.

Poised to shake the MCU down to its very foundations, before Avengers 4 arrives to finish the job in 2019, Infinity War is the culmination of a ten-year movie arc:

An unprecedented cinematic journey ten years in the making and spanning the entire Marvel Cinematic Universe, Marvel Studios’ ‘Avengers: Infinity War’ brings to the screen the ultimate, deadliest showdown of all time. The Avengers and their Super Hero allies must be willing to sacrifice all in an attempt to defeat the powerful Thanos before his blitz of devastation and ruin puts an end to the universe.

And it’ll be with us on May 4th, 2018.
