Legends of Tomorrow has featured no shortage of important historical figures over its three seasons so far and that’s not about to stop anytime soon. In contrast to other time travel series, Legends isn’t afraid to showcase celebrities from recent years, as it’s already given us Star Wars creator George Lucas and later this season, we’ll see the Waverider crew encountering a young Barack Obama.
TV Line revealed the news that the 44th President of the United States will soon appear on The CW series. Casting is currently underway to find an actor to portray Obama for an outing set in the mid-70s, when he was a student at Occidental College. From what we understand, the episode is written by Keto Shimizu and James Eagan, with a premiere date locked in for April. No plot details have been revealed just yet, but fans are already speculating about how Barack may fit into things.
Of course, Obama won’t be the first POTUS to appear on the show. Far from it, in fact. George Washington featured in a couple of episodes of season 2, memorably striking up an unlikely friendship with Mick Rory during the War of Independence, while Ulysses S. Grant also turned up in another episode of that season in a scene set during the Civil War. Finally, Lyndon B. Johnson appeared in an episode of season 3 based around the Vietnam War, not to mention there’s also the fictional President Olivia Marsdin as played by Wonder Woman herself, Lynda Carter.
Legends of Tomorrow returns to The CW on Monday, February 12th, filling Supergirl’s time slot while it goes on a 9 week hiatus. There’s no word yet on who the network may be looking at to bring Obama to life, but we’re excited to see him pop up on the show regardless and will be sure to let you know as soon as any further updates arise.
