Throughout the course of its four seasons, The Flash has had some memorable actors stop by to play guest villains. Of course, very few are capable of eclipsing Mark Hamill’s Trickster, especially when you consider the geek cred that guy has racked up over the decades having played icons like Luke Skywalker and the Joker.
To my amazement, Derek Mears’ involvement with the series has flown under the radar, something I find to be rather perplexing. If his name sounds familiar to you, it should, because his long resume is quite impressive. Having played Jason Voorhees in 2009’s Friday the 13th remake and one of the titular creatures in 2010’s Predators, it stands to reason that his inclusion should turn more than a few heads.
This time around, he’s inhabiting the role of Sylbert Rundin AKA Dwarfstar, a metahuman who’s capable of shrinking others. Apparently, he’s a nemesis of sorts to wrestling legend Bill Goldberg’s character of Big Sir, so we’ll be seeing various plot threads interweaving with this one. In fact, executive producer Todd Helbing gives us the tale of the tape in the featurette above.
Personally, I’m thrilled to see Mears land this gig. Having met him several years back, I can not only attest to the fact that he’s one of the nicest guys you’ll ever meet, but he’s also an enormous fan of comic books. Having said that, I imagine that he enjoyed every minute of working on this project.
