Exclusive Preview: Will Passions Ignite In Batman #40?

As was to be expected, there were a variety of developments that shook up the DC Universe in 2017. But if any of them were to be singled out as being the talk of the town, it was probably Catwoman accepting the Dark Knight’s marriage proposal, thus paving the way for countless new storytelling possibilities such as a hilarious double date with Superman and Lois Lane.

For those of you who’ve been following along, you’re well aware of how the cliffhanger to the previous issue of Batman, that being #39, left off and threatened to derail the engagement of the century. It was a bit soap opera-ish, sure, but series writer Tom King really does know how to toy with readers’ emotions.

Long story short, the Caped Crusader joined Wonder Woman to relieve a character known as the Gentle Man of his duty that entails he fend off an endless horde of demons in another dimension. Not surprisingly, time passes differently over there, with Bruce and Diana having spent essentially ten years doing this guy’s job. But on Earth-0, it’s been only a very brief period.

Getting back to that cliffhanger we were speaking of, it saw Batman and Wonder Woman seemingly succumbing to temptation and giving in to carnal desires after being away from their respective lovers for so long. Fortunately for Selina Kyle and Steve Trevor, rational minds prevail as can be plainly seen in our exclusive preview gallery. And if that encompasses the first few pages, well, then color us interested to see what the rest of the issue has to offer.
