Jamie Lee Curtis’ return visit to Haddonfield has been short, sweet and “astonishingly scary.”
The actress, who famously portrayed Laurie Strode in the original Halloween, took to social media earlier this morning to announce that, after two relatively short weeks (and change), she’s now wrapped filming on the 2018 sequel.
Such a quick turnaround has sparked concern online, as fans have theorized that David Gordon Green may well kill off Laurie Strode to make room for the next generation. And we mean that in every sense of the word, as Halloween has opened its creaking doors to Karen (Judy Greer) and Allyson Strode (Andi Matichak), who will be introduced to horror enthusiasts as Laurie’s daughter and granddaughter, respectively.
The result? Three generations of strong, striped Strode women, according to Jamie Lee Curtis, who marked her final day on set with a black-and-white family portrait that states: “Wrapping up this astonishingly scary revisit to Haddonfield.” You can check it out in the gallery down below, along with a few other recently released set pics.
Astonishingly scary, you say? We know Nick Castle’s return as Michael Myers (The Shape) is enough to strike fear into the hearts of any cinephile, but Danny McBride, who co-wrote Halloween alongside David Gordon Green, previously warned fans that the forthcoming sequel heralds a “very scary” trip to Haddonfield.
With that in mind, we can safely expect a helping of old-school horror this October, which is rather fitting when you consider that the industry will be commemorating the time-honored legacy of John Carpenter’s Halloween. Because even after 40 years, that iconic, shrill piano soundtrack is enough to send one or two chills down our spines.
On October 19th, Halloween will cordially invite viewers back to Haddonfield for another round of thrills, spills and supernatural chills.
