May 4th, 2018 is a day that will be long remembered among comic book fans, as it’ll signal the launch of Avengers: Infinity War – the event movie to end all event movies.
That’s a historic feat in and of itself, and one that has evidently caught the industry’s attention, but Marvel Studios is on the verge of commemorating another movie milestone – a decade of the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
Yes, it’s going on 10 years since Jon Favreau’s Iron Man first took flight on May 2nd, 2008 – for those in North America, at least – and the Powers That Be have now kicked off their year-long celebration of all things Marvel, beginning with a class photo of the MCU’s creative figureheads and continuing on with a pretty awesome contest. But that’s not all, as the studio has now released some awesome new character posters featuring many of the Avengers.
First surfacing over on Reddit, it’s unclear when we’ll get a high-res version of these or where they’ll be available, but they’re a suitably epic showcase of the Marvel Cinematic Universe and its many heroes. From Captain America to Black Widow, Groot to Hulk, these posters are arguably the perfect companion piece to the studio’s recent celebratory featurette, which assembled all of the MCU’s key players – both behind the lens and in front – for that aforemetioned super-sized class photo.
And though there may not be anything new revealed with what we have here today, you have to imagine that with Avengers: Infinity War barreling down on its May 4th release date, the marketing blitz will begin in earnest quite soon. Speculation points to the next trailer hitting once Black Panther‘s made its debut in China (March 9th), but we’ll just have to wait and see if that’s the case. Rest assured, though, we’ll definitely be getting some more footage soon.
