Still simmering in the formative stages of development, word is Marvel and Netflix plan to get the cameras rolling this summer, at which point Jon Bernthal and the team will be circling back to New York City and, specifically, the neon streets of Hell’s Kitchen.

And when production kicks-off, we now have reason to believe that The Punisher‘s sophomore installment will take cues from the famous “Suicide Run” comic, which had Frank recovering from a near-death experience. How do we know? That Hashtag Show has relayed the latest casting call indicating that Marvel and Netflix are currently on the lookout for four – count ’em, four – new additions to the hardboiled superhero drama.

[Sheriff Bonnen] an authoritative male in his early 40s.

[Deputy Willis] a female, 33-37, who is a good cop but looks out for #1 above all else.

[Deputy Creamer] a 25-28 year old male who is described as optimistic and professional.

[Bob] a male in his early 50s who works at the desk at the sheriff office.

In a previous casting call, THS hinted that The Punisher season 2 was casting the net in search of three supporting players: Annie Beir, Kim Davis, and Melvin Skelling. That search is ongoing, it seems, though there’s still a good chance The Punisher plans to adapt “The Slavers,” Garth Ennis’ hardboiled comic from 2005, for its second season.

Perhaps it’ll be some amalgamation of the two? Of “The Slavers” and the “Suicide Run” comic? It’s often the case that superhero dramas will cherry-pick one or two comic book storylines and fuse them together throughout the course of a 13-episode season. For The Punisher, Agent Orange, Jigsaw, and that souped-up battle van were all hallmarks of Frank Castle’s comic book lore, so we’re intrigued to see which elements are brought onto the screen in time for season 2.
