Fox’s Reshoots On Deadpool 2 Reportedly Designed To Add More Cable, Domino

In light of early test screenings, we're now hearing that 20th Century Fox ordered a round of Deadpool 2 reshoots in order to add more Cable and Domino.

If the past fortnight has taught us anything, it’s that knee-jerk reactions from a film’s test screenings ought to be treated with a heightened sense of caution.

Sure, Aquaman may be performing well for Warner Bros. and DC, but this past weekend, comic book fans were placed on red alert after it was reported that Deadpool 2, a sequel many consider to be the cinematic equivalent of a slam-dunk, was said to be testing “very poorly” among audiences – so poorly, in fact, that Fox was supposedly concerned that the Merc’s second standalone adventure was doomed to fail.

Couple this with those inaccurate reports about Deadpool 2‘s production schedule – the David Leitch actioner is currently in the midst of reshoots, and has been for the past four weeks – and suddenly, it appeared the pic was in trouble. Not so fast, though. Thanks to sources close to Collider, we now have a little more insight on that additional photography, which was designed to add more scenes involving Cable (Josh Brolin) and Domino (Zazie Beetz). And that’s it, really.

That same source goes on to suggest that Cable and Domino’s slight screentime was the main “complaint” coming out of Deadpool 2‘s first screenings, so this additional photography and last-minute pick-ups certainly make a lot of sense.

Besides, you didn’t think the Powers That Be would be bullish enough to bring Deadpool 2 forward by six weeks – and place it smack bang in the middle of Avengers: Infinity War and Lucasfilm’s Solo: A Star Wars Story, we might add – if they were staring down the face of a dud, now, did you? It makes no sense, so we’re inclined to believe that Collider may be on to something when they say Deadpool 2‘s reshoots were pretty innocuous.
