Creator Robert Kirkman has admitted that it’s possible future episodes of The Walking Dead will expand the zombie apocalypse across the pond.

Asked about it during a recent Tumblr Q&A, he noted that while not confirmed, visiting countries outside the US is something the team’s “discussed from time to time.” Continuing on, he said that the comics will probably stick to America, but going international on television could potentially happen.

“We have seen a bit of Mexico in [spinoff series] Fear The Walking Dead [already]. I don’t really plan to expand things in the comic side of things ever. But, I wouldn’t be surprised if we eventually do something internationally in the TV space.”

Barring Fear The Walking Dead, which, as Kirkman said, shifted the focus over to Mexico for a handful of instalments, every episode of The Walking Dead has taken place in the US of A. With that in mind, it’s fair to say that a handful of viewers have been crying out for a change in location to keep the formula fresh – even if it’s just for an episode or two, relocating to Europe would surely add an extra layer of intrigue as it broadens the canvas to a global scale.

It’s by no means a sure thing, of course, so take Kirkman’s words with a grain of salt. Still, it’s not too difficult to imagine a scenario in which The Walking Dead experiments with the format all in the name of ratings – which have been pretty rough, lately. Not to mention that this isn’t the first time we’ve heard about the show potentially switching locations.

For now, though, the action will be staying firmly in the good ol’ US of A and you can catch the next episode of AMC’s The Walking Dead when it airs later tonight.
