Deadpool 2 Cut Out This Post-Credits Scene Because It Was Too Racy

As wild as Deadpool 2 gets at times - and it does get pretty wild - one post-credits scene was apparently too much and had to be cut.

Is there another superhero out there who’s able to break the fourth wall like Wade Wilson?

Ahead of the release of Deadpool 2, Ryan Reynolds’ irreverent, gun-toting mercenary has been taking jabs at Disney, Josh Brolin, Céline Dion (!) and even the DC Extended Universe. And that’s just the promotional campaign we’re talking about.

Because as Reynolds recently revealed to Entertainment Weekly, there was one particularly contentious Disney joke that made its way into the Deadpool 2 script. It’s not there anymore, mind you, as writers Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick were forced to cut the mysterious gag at the behest of 20th Century Fox. And as it turns out, it wasn’t the only thing they had to remove, as we’re now learning that an additional post-credits scene had to go, too.

As we reported on earlier, the film features quite a bit of extra material once the credits have rolled, and while we won’t get into all that here as it’s pretty spoiler-y, we will be talking about something that ended up on the cutting room floor. Yes, as wild and racy as Deadpool 2 gets, there was a scene after the credits that was left out as it shows DP killing baby Hitler.

According to MCU Cosmic, here’s how it went down:

Deadpool in a newborn ward. Standing next to Hilter. He goes back and forth on doing it. A baby cries and he says “Shut up Ira, you’ll thank me someday!” Finally he goes for it, then baby Hitler’s POV as Dreadpool strangles him.

It’s not hard to see why this was ultimately cut, and as the outlet notes, it made some people very uncomfortable during test screenings. That said, it does sound like a pretty hilarious scene and with any luck, the footage will end up on the Blu-ray as a bonus feature. Fingers crossed, eh?

Even without this particular moment though, there’s still much to look forward to with Deadpool 2, as early reactions have been praising the humor, the action and more. All in all, it appears that Fox has got another hit on their hands and we can’t wait to see what else is in store for us when the Merc blasts into theaters on May 18th.
