The Walking Dead Set Photo Reveals New Set Piece From The Comics

A new photo snapped from the The Walking Dead set in Senoia, Georgia has arrived online today which supports evidence that season 9 will be introducing a familiar structure from the comic books into the world of the TV show. After all, crew hats have told us that season 9 will be heavily influenced by the “A New Beginning” arc from the comics, just as you’d expect, as that follows on from the “All-Out War” storyline that was wrapped up in season 8. After a time jump, the arc reintroduces Alexandria as a thriving community. Now that the Saviors are no longer a threat and Negan’s safely locked away in jail, Rick Grimes’ town is much more self-sufficient, including having built a tall windmill that stands high above the settlement.

Though you might think we’re clutching at straws with this image, additional evidence tells us that this is what’s coming as well. For instance, The Newnan Times-Herald reported in May that The Walking Dead production team had sought permission to build a windmill, “the total height of which will be around 65 feet.”

While it sounds like season 9 will embody the spirit of the comics as best it can, then, there will be at least one big development that’s entirely its own. Andrew Lincoln is set to stand down after a mere handful of episodes as the star of the show, which likely means that Rick will be killed off. So, even if Alexandria is in perfect harmony when the season begins, we can bet it won’t stay that way for long.

The Walking Dead season 9 is set to return to AMC this fall and as more updates come our way, we’ll be sure to let you know.
