Taylor Swift’s Excited To See Ruby Rose As Batwoman

Just like the rest of us, it seems that Taylor Swift's excited to see what Ruby Rose can do with the role of Batwoman in the Arrowverse.

It’s official: Ruby Rose is bound for Gotham City.

The Orange is the New Black star, who can currently be seen in Jason Statham vs. giant shark thriller The Meg, has signed on to play Batwoman for The CW, which is shaping up to be every bit as groundbreaking as we’ve come to expect.

Set for her small-screen debut via December’s by-now traditional Arrowverse crossover, Rose will then be able to spread her wings for The CW’s standalone Batwoman series. From what we understand, it’s still simmering away in the bowels of development, with Caroline Dries (The Vampire Diaries) and franchise architect Greg Berlanti on board to write and executive produce, respectively.

That means that, at least for now, there’s no guarantee of a series order, but that’s in no way quelled excitement to see Rose leave her mark on the role, and the latest to share their thoughts on the matter is none other than Taylor Swift, who’s apparently looking forward to seeing the actress make her CW debut just as much as the rest of us.

Of course, the casting of Ruby Rose as Batwoman is a huge coup for the LGBTQ community, and only serves as further proof that The CW continues to leave its cinematic brethren in the dust when it comes to equality and inclusivity in the superhero genre – Legends of Tomorrow and Arrow both feature the openly bisexual character Sara Lance, for example.

Word is that Batwoman‘s expected to go before the cameras early next year, potentially opening up a fall 2019 release window for The CW. And we will, as always, update you if and when we learn more about Kate Kane’s small-screen debut.
