It seems Nebula has some unresolved daddy issues going into Avengers 4.
The tortured soul only featured briefly during Joe and Anthony Russo’s Infinity War, in which she was subjected to copious amounts of torture – physical and mental – all in an effort to locate the elusive Soul Stone.
Thanos succeeds, of course, and forces Earth’s Mightiest Heroes to scramble to Titan where they must defend Doctor Strange and the Time Stone at all costs. It’s at this very moment that Nebula shows up out of the blue, crashing her ship into Thanos and buying some precious time for our war-torn heroes.
But if you were left underwhelmed by Nebula’s screentime during Infinity War, you’ll be pleased to note that Avengers 4 will see Karen Gillan’s blue-skinned oddity confront her demons, and maybe – just maybe – mine inspiration from the famous “Infinity Gauntlet” comic. Gillan’s latest Instagram story (h/t MCU Cosmic) certainly adds fuel to the fire.
We already know that Avengers 4 is set to undergo a series of reshoots from the beginning of September – reshoots that will purportedly dot the i’s and cross the t’s of Marvel’s starry epic, according to Mark Ruffalo.
That tells us the untitled 2019 blockbuster is still in a state of flux, but this social media post from Karen Gillan strongly suggests that Avengers 4 will honor the “Infinity Gauntlet” comic and allow Nebula to wield the fully-armed Gauntlet, potentially restoring her own body and reversing the infamous Snap that reduced half of all life in the universe to ash.
It’s by no means confirmed, but it certainly presents one possible solution for Earth’s Mightiest Heroes as Marvel’s Phase 3 inches closer and closer to its all-encompassing finale. May 3rd is the date for your diaries.
