Avengers: Infinity War’s Karen Gillan Poses With The Gauntlet In New Photo

There's a photo doing the rounds on social media that has Marvel fans very happy. There’s a photo doing the rounds on social media that has Marvel fans very happy. It seems Avengers: Infinity War star Karen Gillan’s borrowed her on-screen dad’s favorite accessory as this snap (heh) shows the Scottish actress, who plays Thanos’ cyborg daughter Nebula, posing with the Infinity Gauntlet.

As well as the fun of seeing Gillan reference the movie out of character, this photo taps into a very popular fan theory that those with comic book knowledge have about Avengers 4. In the original Infinity Gauntlet storyline, Nebula’s able to get the Gauntlet off Thanos and goes crazy with its immense power once she has it. So much so that the Avengers have to temporarily team up with the Mad Titan to get the dangerous glove off of her.

Seeing how Nebula survived the Snap at the end of Infinity War, it’s theorized that she’s been kept around for a reason, potentially to re-enact her famous moment in the source material. It’s worth mentioning that Nebula’s horrific torture at Thanos’ hand in IW is something else ripped from the comics, which gives her the drive to try the Gauntlet on for herself and get her own back.

In the MCU, Nebula’s motivations are perhaps even stronger, too. Not only did her own adoptive father put her through an excruciating ordeal, but he also murdered her sister Gamora, the only person that either Nebula or Thanos cared for. Even if she tags along with the Avengers for the most part, we wouldn’t trust Nebula to play ball when she sets her sights on the Gauntlet in next May’s sequel.

Away from her thirst for vengeance, Gillan’s also teased that Nebula will make a new friend in the movie. “I know who her new BFF is, and I can’t tell you,” the Guardians of the Galaxy veteran hinted. “I can’t. But I promise you it’s brilliant and unexpected and just so good.”

We’ll find out what exactly’s next for Nebula after the climactic events of Infinity War when Avengers 4 lands in theaters next May.
