Dean Cain Sounds Like He’s Game For A Return To Superman Role

Considering that the Man of Steel took the 1990s off when it came to appearing in theatrically released movies, it’s a good thing fans had Lois & Clark: The New Adventures of Superman to help satisfy their fix.

Having ran for four seasons, it showed a more domestic side to the timeless icon, in addition to putting great emphasis on his career as a reporter at the Daily Planet. And, of course, there was the matter of him finally being married off to Lois Lane, something that’d actually been unheard of back then.

In the time since the series wrapped, lead actor Dean Cain has been among various others to have shown up in further Superman-based projects. In fact, he’s helped the legacy live on by playing the villainous Curtis Knox on Smallville, and by filling out the role of Jeremiah Danvers on the currently running Supergirl.

But now that Henry Cavill has seemingly vacated his position as the silver screen’s iteration of Big Blue, fans are understandably reminiscing on some of their favorite actors to have played the Last Son of Krypton in the past. Furthermore, Cain has once again thrown his hat into the ring via Twitter – but not necessarily in the way you’d first suspect.

You see, Dean has opted to make use of the hashtag “Lois and Clark Reboot?” – which is once again stirring up interest in giving a proper conclusion to the tale started by his version of the character. Additionally, he joked about there being “an age qualification,” which I imagine there might be for WB.

Truth be told, this isn’t the first time in 2018 that Cain’s brought up this subject, lest we forget his conversation with SyFy from this past spring:

“I would love it if Lois & Clark could be revived. I have some fun ideas about what I’d like to see happen, if we revisit these characters 25 years later. A lot of actors will try to distance themselves from a character, but I have always embraced playing the character, being part of the universe. Right now I’m Supergirl’s adoptive father, Jeremiah Danvers. If in 10 years I play Jor-El or some grandfather figure, I’m cool with that, too.”

Personally, I could go either way here. On the one hand, I’d be down for letting Lois & Clark be granted a proper sendoff, but I think it’d be so badass to see Cain as a full-on Cyborg Superman over on Supergirl. To me, having someone who’s played such a recognizable hero explore how the other half lives is highly appealing, therefore I’ll also continue sounding an air horn until Smallville‘s Tom Welling is cast as Lex Luthor.
