After waiting for what felt like an eternity, The CW have finally released a trailer for Supernatural season 14. Granted, some footage was shown to those fortunate enough to have attended San Diego Comic-Con this past July, but the rest of the planet has been left in the dark.

Today, however, the curtain’s been pulled back, and you can check out what awaits Sam, Dean, Castiel, Jack and the rest of your favorites in the video embedded at the top of this article. The freshly released synopsis makes for the perfect complement, too, so let’s take a look at that now, shall we?

Sam (Jared Padalecki) enlists everyone’s help in trying to track down Dean (Jensen Ackles), who can literally be anywhere. Meanwhile, Castiel (Misha Collins) may be in over his head after meeting up with an unreliable source. After being drained of his grace in season 13, Jack (Alexander Calvert) is adjusting to life as a human, learning new skills and figuring out how he fits in to this world of hunters.

Personally, I’m intrigued to see if indeed it’s Apocalypse World’s Michael who is trying to fill the void left in Hell following the deaths of Crowley, Lucifer and Asmodeus. Sam’s proclamation that “there will be no new King of Hell” could hint at what’s next on the archangel’s agenda, sure, but how the promo was edited may be misleading us.

Regardless, it looks like Michael will be up to all sorts of no good now that he’s rocking Dean’s meat suit. In fact, we were told to expect for the new big bad to take up residence inside the elder Winchester brother for at least a few episodes, so it stands to reason that much carnage will ensue.

Supernatural returns for its fourteenth season on Thursday, October 11 on The CW.
