New Synopsis For The Flash Teases Cicada’s Arrival

Late last week, we were finally gifted with a synopsis hyping the fifth season premiere of The Flash and, as was to be expected, a description for the episode to follow has now hit the web. Given that its respective air date is just under three weeks away, we anticipate that something regarding the third installment will arrive before the premiere itself, so stay tuned.

Getting back to episode 2 though, it seems fair that it serve as the launching point for incoming big bad Cicada, for it may not be wise for the producers to delay his arrival for much longer. Considering this show’s proud tradition for showcasing memorable overarching villains such as the Reverse-Flash, Zoom, Savitar and the Thinker, it stands to reason that viewers are champing at the bit to check out their successor.

So, without further delay, here’s what we know so far about “Blocked”:

CHRIS KLEIN JOINS “THE FLASH” — As Barry (Grant Gustin) helps his daughter, Nora (Jessica Parker Kennedy), become a better speedster, he and Team Flash also track down a meta stealing high-tech weapons, only to cross paths with a new foe named Cicada (Chris Klein), who is hunting the very same meta with nefarious intent. Kim Miles directed the episode written by Eric Wallace & Judalina Neira (502). Original airdate 10/16/2018

From the look of it, Cicada and the STAR Labs crew’s paths will cross due to each side working the same case from opposite ends, which seems like a perfectly viable way of going about an introduction. Still, there’s no reason to assume that they’ll get along in the slightest because the new threat is, well, kind of out there.

For more on Cicada, let’s reflect on lead actor Grant Gustin’s recent comments regarding his next onscreen foe:

“He can dampen other metahuman powers, and we don’t know at first how he’s able to do that. He’s got an edge that no other big bad has ever had. We don’t know who he is. He’s mysterious. He’s just kind of an intimidating, big scary man that can render pretty much all of these metahuman superheroes useless, more or less, in battle. He comes on really hard and fast the first time we meet him, so right away there’s an intimidation factor that’s through the roof, similar to Zoom.”

The Flash returns for its fifth season on Tuesday, October 9, with “Blocked” set to follow on October 16.
