Boy, things are really heating up on Jon Favreau’s live-action Star Wars TV show, eh?

Touting a hefty price tag of $10 million per episode and more expectations than we can count, the project is now beginning to gain a serious sense of momentum as production gets ready to kick off. Just yesterday, for instance, we finally learned its title, with Favreau himself telling us it’ll be called The Mandalorian.

And as if that wasn’t exciting enough, we also got the following plot summary:

After the stories of Jango and Boba Fett, another warrior emerges in the Star Wars universe. The Mandalorian is set after the fall of the Empire and before the emergence of the First Order. We follow the travails of a lone gunfighter in the outer reaches of the galaxy far from the authority of the New Republic.

Now, the momentum continues with our very first look at the show. Seen in the gallery below is who we presume to be the main character. He’s a Mandalorian warrior who looks an awful lot like a particular bounty hunter fans have grown to love and though we don’t know who’s under the helmet just yet, it’s an intriguing photo regardless.

Released alongside this shot was a director’s list for the show, and we can now tell you that Rebels‘ Dave Filoni, Deborah Chow (Jessica Jones), Rick Famuyiwa (Dope), Bryce Dallas Howard (Solemates) and Taika Waititi (Thor: Ragnarok) will all be getting behind the camera for The Mandalorian.

Furthermore, we’ve also heard that the planet will be in a state of disarray when things kick off, which means Favreau’s live-action TV show will focus on “restoring Mandalore to its former self.” Of course, this far-flung setting will no doubt spark discussion about some of the galaxy’s most iconic characters, like Sabine, Bo-Katan and the legendary Darksaber, swinging by for an appearance. But let’s not get too far ahead of ourselves.

With things now taking off for The Mandalorian, we should learn more about what Favreau and Lucasfilm have planned in no time at all and once further updates arise, we’ll be sure to let you know.
