Alan Tudyk To Voice The Joker In Harley Quinn Animated Series

It was just a couple of weeks ago when we learned that Rahul Kohli of iZombie fame would be voicing Scarecrow in the upcoming Harley Quinn animated series, but this latest news may well have that major supervillain addition topped, with actor Diedrich Bader revealing that Firefly star Alan Tudyk will be in the role of the Clown Prince of Crime.

As the voice for Batman, Bader talked about the show in an interview with Discussing Film, and it’s here that he clarified who would be providing the pipes for Bruce Wayne’s most notorious adversary, the Joker. And though we’ve known for a while that Tudyk would have some part to play in the series, it’s nice to know that he’ll be put to good use.

That being said, while the Joker is still the character that people most closely associate with Harley, it looks like the show is going to see its title character breaking away from this psychotic relationship and establishing herself as her own woman. As the official synopsis puts it:

Harley Quinn follows Harley’s adventures after she breaks up with the Joker and strikes out on her own in this new, adult animated comedy. With the help of Poison Ivy and a ragtag crew of DC castoffs, Harley tries to earn a seat at the biggest table in villainy: the Legion of the Doom.

While Kaley Cuoco of The Big Bang Theory fame’s in the starring role, Lake Bell seems set to be her bestie as the voice of Poison Ivy. The two of them exhibited some endearing chemistry in the show’s first trailer, which sees Harley explain why this will be a fun watch that strays from the gloomy DC stereotype, while Ivy cynically insists that fans are going to hate it. And speaking of self-aware humor, the clip even takes a shot at the Deadpool cartoon for failing to get off the ground.

Overall, the early signs seem pretty promising for Harely Quinn, and we’re curious to see what the show delivers when it finally launches on the DC Universe streaming service.
