Filming Has Officially Wrapped On It: Chapter Two

Yesterday saw the release of the first official poster for It: Chapter Two, the highly anticipated sequel to the highest-grossing horror film of all time, and if that wasn’t a clear enough indication that we’re moving out of the phase of plentiful set pics and into the phase of promotional images, producer Barbara Muschietti just announced on Instagram that filming has now wrapped.

The sister of director Andy Muschietti shared the poster from next year’s release along with the following caption:

“IT’s a wrap on Chapter Two. Movie family, thank you for the support, love, encouragement, coffee. In front and behind the camera, we all pushed through. Dreams do come true. Thank you.”

While we haven’t been seeing so much of the cast in front of the camera lately, a month or two ago we received a generous array of photos from the set showing how The Losers Club is all grown up now. The new line-up includes the likes of Jessica Chastain as Beverly, James McAvoy stars as Bill, Bill Hader as Richie, Jay Ryan as Ben, Andy Bean stars as Stanley, and James Ransone as Eddie.

But while the Losers keep getting older, Pennywise stays the same age, with Bill Skarsgård reprising his role as the psychotic clown. After the first It managed to defy the stigma on horror remakes and come out to commercial and critical success, Skarsgård suggested earlier this year that he was approaching this sequel with a newfound confidence.

“The first time I did it, nobody knew what I would do with it, so it was just all of this expectation,” Skarsgård elaborated. “I didn’t know if it would work, or if people would respond to it. There was a lot of that worry going on about it…I worked really closely with Andy. This time around, because the movie became such a phenomenon, it’s almost like I’m re-adapting myself.”

As for what sort of material Skarsgård and his co-stars will have to work with this time around, writer Gary Dauberman has not only teased that the film’s ending will break our hearts, but that he’ll also be bringing some of the more bizarre content from Stephen King’s novel to the screen.

We’ll see if It: Chapter Two can live up to the hype when it hits theaters on September 6th, 2019.
