22 New Walking Dead Photos Tease The First Post-Rick Episode

AMC has released 22 new photos from this Sunday's episode of The Walking Dead, which will be the first one following Rick's departure last week.

Well, it finally happened. Andrew Lincoln’s last episode of The Walking Dead aired this past weekend and it goes without saying that it was a poignant rollercoaster ride for viewers.

After being impaled on a piece of rebar in the prior installment, we all thought Rick Grimes was a goner. Especially when he started having visions of old friends and enemies – like Shane (Jon Bernthal), Hershel (the late Scott Wilson) and Sasha (Sonequa Martin-Green). In a shocking twist, though, he was rescued by Anne and taken away in a helicopter for pastures new.

The first outing of the post-Grimes era of TWD will be fittingly titled “Who Are You Now?” and, judging by the synopsis below, it’ll introduce a bunch of new characters to freshen up the show following its recent major loss.

“The survivors encounter unfamiliar faces outside the safety of their community’s walls and must decide whether or not this new group can be trusted.”

But that’s not all, as AMC has also released a huge batch of photos that tease what’s to come. Among other things, we get to see the time jump in all its glory, fast-forwarding six years into the future as everyone’s already well adjusted to life without Rick Grimes. There’s nothing particularly spoiler-y here, but it’s nice to catch a glimpse of some of the character’s new looks, as several of them appear quite different from how we’re used to seeing them.

While Rick may be gone, there’s still a lot of life left in The Walking Dead yet. Norman Reedus recently teased that the rest of season 9 will be “epic,” while producer Greg Nicotero believes that upcoming villain Alpha (Samantha Morton), leader of the Whisperers, will end up being the show’s greatest villain to date.

And it all kicks off when a new age of The Walking Dead begins this Sunday, November 11th on AMC.
