User Ncsar216 has shared a couple of screenshots from the book released a couple of months ago, one of which reveals that Nebula was named by none other than Thanos himself, and the other of which highlights the following excerpt:

“Gamora’s retractable sword, Godslayer, is so named as it can kill even an Asgardian. When faced with the monstrous energy-draining Abilisk, Gamora uses Godslayer to slice the giant beast’s throat.”

Turns out that Gamora’s Godslayer blade isn’t just good for taking out Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 opening credits villains, but could also be used against Thor and his ilk.

Sadly, we never got to see Zoe Saldana’s character kill some Asgardians before her recent demise, but there are a few reasons to believe that she hasn’t yet made her last appearance in the MCU, from Avengers 4 set pics, to Dave Bautista’s tease of dead Guardians returning for the Avengers: Infinity War sequel. Gamora’s unfortunate fate has even been the subject of much theorizing, with many fans suggesting that she isn’t really gone but is simply trapped inside the Soul World.

That’s just speculation for now – albeit, speculation with a little evidence behind it – but we’ll find out more when Avengers 4 comes out on May 3rd, 2019. After that, Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 should be coming our way somewhere down line, but while James Gunn once teased that this heavily delayed threequel has a larger role in mind for Gamora, it’s hard to say how many of the dismissed writer’s ideas will remain in tact by the time this film arrives.
