Jason Momoa Says He’s Obsessed With Snyder’s Justice League Cut

Aquaman star Jason Momoa claimed a few days ago that he had more fun working on Justice League than he did with his upcoming solo debut, but as we all know, much of what the actor filmed for Zack Snyder’s picture didn’t make the final feature, with the movie undergoing some notoriously heavy reshoots courtesy of Joss Whedon.

To this day, “Release the Snyder Cut” remains a rallying cry for DC fans disappointed by the flick they got, and while Cyborg actor Ray Fisher went on record a couple of months ago defending the theatrical version, Momoa is as keen as anyone to see what could’ve been. In an interview with MTV News, Josh Horowitz brought up the subject of fans obsessed with the Snyder Cut, to which Momoa confessed that he’s right there with them in their fixation:

“I’m obsessed with it too. That’s one thing that sucks with our business where you just can’t speak your mind but yeah, f— yeah I want to see it!”

The actor recalled in another recent interview how Aquaman’s final scenes from Justice League were originally going to see Arthur Curry’s story lead right into the events of his first standalone movie, with Momoa even shooting some footage opposite his Aquaman co-stars Amber Heard and Willem Dafoe.

Evidently, this conclusion was scrapped for the theatrical release, though Aquaman director James Wan probably didn’t lose sleep over the exclusion, seeing how the filmmaker explained just earlier this week that he didn’t want his film to be too beholden to the wider events of the DCEU.

It’s understandable that Wan would want to distance his work somewhat from the franchise’s previous installments after Justice League underperformed at the box office, but we’ll find out how he fares in carving out his own corner of the cinematic universe when Aquaman hits theaters on December 21st.
