The artwork nicely captures the festive and family-friendly vibe that the PG-13 Deadpool 2 re-release is going for (if only ironically), while showing off most of the core cast, from Colossus to Fred Savage. The image came with an accompanying message explaining that Wade Wilson’s long-suffering mutant friend insisted that the poster was tweeted:

“Colossus insisted we post this version of the Once Upon a Deadpool poster and what big guy wants big guy gets.”

For a re-release with such a limited run in cinemas, it’s clear that a fair amount of effort has been put into the promotional art for Once Upon a Deadpool. Previously shared posters, for instance, have brought us such sights as Wilson and Savage riding on the back of a reindeer, while another showed the pair hanging out with a heavenly band.

Despite the marketing generally going down well with fans, the film itself has a received a pretty mixed response, with many viewers feeling that the new cut of Deadpool 2 simply doesn’t have enough fresh material to justify the second viewing. That being said, the re-release certainly has its defenders, including Deadpool co-creator Rob Liefeld, who argued that Once Upon a Deadpool is “one of the most daring and insane outings this series has seen.”

Nonetheless, if you’d rather the Merc with a Mouth didn’t have to watch his language, you can hopefully see him again in the upcoming X-Force movie, though given the lack of news lately for Drew Goddard’s ensemble flick, we could be in for a pretty long wait.
