As part of the Disney Plus launch later this year, the Mouse House will release a standalone TV series for Loki, Tom Hiddleston’s trickster and all-around fan-favorite who has been tormenting the MCU since as far back as 2012, when he waged war on Earth and ultimately galvanized the Avengers – albeit with a helping hand from Samuel L. Jackson’s Nick Fury, who gave Earth’s Mightiest Heroes that little push when they needed it most.

For the forthcoming TV series, though, we’re now hearing that Hiddleston will be the narrator of Loki’s adventures, and that the Powers That Be are planning on recruiting a younger actor to supplant Tom Hiddleston in the leading role. And don’t be fooled into thinking that this is Disney’s way of cutting corners; sources close to That Hashtag Show also suggest that “money is no obstacle” when it comes to the Disney Plus series, which presumably applies to the Vision and Scarlet Witch show, too.

It’s certainly… interesting, and that’s despite the fact that Disney is playing things close to the chest. Chances are the Mouse House is prepared to hold fire until Avengers: Endgame has come and gone, by which point everyone will be able to get a better read on the MCU and the future of our favorite characters – or lack thereof.

Loki is, of course, the exception to that rule in that Disney is clearly planning some sort of prequel for their God of Mischief, with Tom Hiddleston narrating from the afterlife… as bizarre as that sounds. Regardless, it’s an intriguing route to take and as more details come to light, we’ll be sure to let you know.
