The set-up of the episode sees meta-hating big bad Cicada going around Central City on another killing spree, leading Team Flash to round up the metahuman population and keep them safe in a warehouse. However, when Barry and his daughter Nora battle the villain on the streets, XS ends up gravely injured as Cicada damages her back. You can bet that Barry’s going to be raging at Chris Klein’s bad guy for what he’s done.

For more, here’s the synopsis for the episode, which teases an angry Barry as well as a subplot about Caitlin and Killer Frost facing a difference of opinion over the development of a metahuman cure.

During a battle with Cicada (Chris Klein), Nora (Jessica Parker Kennedy) is severely injured. Due to Cicada’s dampening powers, Nora’s speed healing isn’t working, leaving Barry (Grant Gustin) and Iris (Candice Patton) scared for their daughter’s future. Upset about his injured child, The Flash is filled with rage and confronts Cicada in a brutal battle. Meanwhile, Killer Frost (Danielle Panabaker) keeps interfering with Caitlin’s work on the cure.

It’s unclear exactly what Cicada does to Nora, but it’s likely that the spinal injury will leave her unable to use her speed. No doubt her doting parents will worry that she’ll never walk – or run – again. Usually speedsters have accelerated healing, but knowing Cicada’s powers, that likely won’t apply here. So, how long will it take for Nora West-Allen to recover and get back in the superhero game?

Time will tell, but we’ll find out what’s next for The Flash fam when the show returns to The CW next Tuesday, January 22nd. In the meantime, tell us, what did you think of the midseason premiere? Let us know your thoughts in the comments section down below.
