Marvel Comics Reveals Its New Guardians Of The Galaxy Lineup

Maybe all of the recent hoopla surrounding the next Guardians of the Galaxy film being delayed and possibly retooled due to the firing of James Gunn has something to do with the books being shaken up, but I like to think there's less pressure on Marvel Comics to have their products reflect the movies in recent years. After all, there's a reason why we refer to the literature as "source material."

As you may remember, the House of Ideas has spent the past few months teasing a fresh team lineup to be featured in a new ongoing series written by Donny Cates and illustrated by Geoff Shaw. And like I expected, reactions proved to be divisive because, as stated earlier, it’s not exactly reflective of what’s been enjoyed on the silver screen. But if you’re like me, you dig seeing oddball additions to super groups every now and then.

Seen below is a panel taken from the debut issue showing the squad coming together for the first time and striking a pose. In case you’re keeping tabs, that’s Star-Lord, Groot, Beta Ray Bill, Cosmic Ghost Rider, Moondragon and Phyla-Vell hanging out.

Of course, we can’t rule out changes being made in the future because such is to be expected from any enduring series, but it should make for exciting reading in the meantime. And speaking of which, the crew still has to root out which hero the departed Thanos implanted his consciousness in, so there’s also that to anticipate.

Yes, there’s a new Thanos on the way, and you can learn a little more by checking out the solicitation for the next issue to follow:
