Avengers: Endgame TV Spot Might Have Debunked A Popular Nebula Rumor

The first trailer for Avengers: Endgame helped launch a new line of speculation with its footage of Iron Man stuck drifting through space, running out of food and oxygen, and recording what he believes to be his final message. But while we still have a lot to learn about how Tony Stark gets into and out of his predicament, the new TV spot for the Avengers: Infinity War sequel may at least help refute one particular theory about Stark’s grim situation.

In the December trailer for the upcoming flick, the footage indicated in one quick shot that Stark won’t always be completely alone on the Benatar, with Nebula also shown to be on the ship with him. But given Nebula’s limited screen time, not to mention her history as a villain, some fans have suggested that Karen Gillan’s character may soon abandon Tony, leaving him for dead as she goes off on her own journey. Nonetheless, while last night’s TV spot doesn’t entirely refute this idea, it does suggest that the pair will cooperate for at least some of their time together with its shot of Tony and Nebula collaborating while inside of what appears to be a spaceship.

Of course, just because the two of them are getting along for a little while, that doesn’t stop Nebula from abandoning Tony later down the line, but given Gillan’s tease from back in 2017 that her character will have an unexpected new “BFF,” it’s at least looking probable that the pair’s relationship will last well beyond the course of this one scene.

What exactly the two of them are working on together is a topic for a whole other debate, but we’ll find out when Avengers: Endgame hits theaters on April 26th, 2019.
