Though the recently released Resident Evil 2 remake has proven to be more different from the 1998 original than RE 1‘s remake was from its predecessor, I’ve immensely enjoyed it nevertheless. If anything, it’s retained the spirit of the game that made me fall in love with the franchise over two decades ago, not to mention iconic elements such as Mr. X. In fact, it could be argued that the sharply dressed Tyrant is more popular these days because of social media.
Interestingly enough, Capcom decided to again include the option for players to develop film found in Raccoon City’s Police Station and its surrounding areas in the darkroom. This time, though, going through with the process actually proved to be more worth your while because the photos reveal item locations and puzzle solutions.
If you’re familiar with the Playstation classic, then you remember searching Albert Wesker’s desk fifty times for an oddly placed picture of STARS rookie Rebecca Chambers. I don’t know about you, but I’ve cracked a joke here and there in the time since about Wesker having a crush – or, perhaps, even dipping his pen in the company ink.
Believe it or not, you can uncover such a thing in the remake after first finding the film roll in the sewers’ workroom. You know, it’s the one that shows where you can find some ammo in the RPD press room and a weapon upgrade in Wesker’s desk in the STARS office.
As it turns out, you can search the desk again after liberating the wooden box containing the upgrade in order to find yet another roll of film. After doing so, you’re able to go back to the darkroom in order to develop the picture of Rebecca – only this time it’s a bit more suggestive (seen above).
Given this newly presented evidence, I think it’s safe to say Wesker totally had the hots for Rebecca back in the day. What forbidden love could’ve been will forever remain left to the imagination and shockingly graphic fan art on Tumblr, but hey, at least the two finally worked side by side in the HD upgrade of Resident Evil Zero‘s “Wesker Mode” released not long too ago.
Resident Evil 2 and its subsequent DLC are now available for consumption.
