The Flash Season 5

The Metahuman Cure Awaits Cicada In New Synopsis For The Flash

If I were to make any observation about The Flash's current big bad, Cicada, it's the he's less a thorn in the side of the STAR Labs crew and much better at racking up losses before escaping at the last second. To use a pro wrestling term, he's more of a "jobber" than Reverse-Flash, Zoom, Savitar and the Thinker ever were.

Well, if all goes according to plan, Cicada’s going to get that metahuman cure being worked on by Cisco and Caitlin since the midseason premiere. Here, take a look at what awaits us in the bizarrely titled “Failure is an Orphan” after we have time to come down from the King Shark-Gorilla Grodd fight:

THE META-CURE IS READY TO USE ON CICADA — With the meta-human cure ready to use, Barry (Grant Gustin) and Team Flash must figure out a way to subdue Cicada (Chris Klein) long enough to take it. Killer Frost (Danielle Panabaker) steps in to help with the plan. Meanwhile, Joe (Jesse L. Martin) eases back into work, and Nora (Jessica Parker Kennedy) isn’t happy about the way her dad plans to stop Cicada. Viet Nguyen directed the episode written by Zack Stentz (#516). Original airdate 3/12/2019.

If you’d like to hear my best guess, I’d say the situation will go awry and Cicada will make yet another narrow exit, just as he did after all of those ass-whoopings handed out by Killer Frost. After all, the producers need to stretch out this war until the season finale.

Then again, Todd Helbing and company could throw us a curveball by instead shifting the antagonistic focus to Eobard Thawne for the remaining episodes. We’ve yet to learn the scope of his plan and collusion with Nora West-Allen, so we’re due to see that thread unravel.

The Flash airs on Tuesday nights on The CW, with “Failure is an Orphan” set to debut on March 12th.
