The Arrowverse Will Become One Universe After Crisis On Infinite Earths

Forget Avengers: Endgame, "Crisis On Infinite Earths" is coming to our screens this fall and it promises to be the biggest event in The CW's DC shared universe yet. The scope and scale of the original comic book event is so huge that fans can't wait to see how the Arrowverse will adapt the storyline. Sure, The Flash kind of botched "Flashpoint," but this time around they're bound to tackle it with the universe-shattering magnitude it deserves, right?

Well, it definitely sounds like it. Sources close to We Got This Covered have revealed that “Crisis” will have enormous ramifications for the multiverse and will end with the varying Earths of the Arrowverse being merged into one, meaning that yes, all of the shows will take place on one single Earth. So, no more Earth-38 for Supergirl, as the Girl of Steel will soon be living on the same Earth as Green Arrow, the Flash and Batwoman.

Comic book readers should be able to see where The CW is getting its ideas from here. After all, this is the exact outcome of the source material, with “Crisis” intended to streamline the DC multiverse in order to make it more accessible again for new readers. We imagine the intention’s still the same in the TV version, too. The Arrowverse’s mythology has gotten very complex over the past eight years and, with ratings starting to dwindle, the network likely wants to reinvigorate the franchise.

Merging the multiverse into one isn’t the only way that things are being refreshed, though. We’ve also been told that the line-up of Arrowverse shows on the air will massively change after the next run of seasons, with Arrow, Legends of Tomorrow and Supergirl all potentially coming to an end. The thinking’s that The Flash and Batwoman would then be joined by the next generation of series set in the Arrowverse.

To reiterate, this news isn’t officially confirmed just yet, but all the signs are pointing to the Arrowverse being irrevocably changed following “Crisis on Infinite Earths.” As Psycho-Pirate said in “Elseworlds,” “worlds will live, worlds will die, and the universe will never be the same.”
