It’s been a good couple of years for Deathstroke fans as the iconic supervillain showed up briefly in Justice League, as played by Joe Manganiello, and has also put in appearances on several seasons of Arrow, with Manu Bennett’s portrayal widely considered to be the best Arrowverse big bad to date. And then there’s also Will Arnett’s more comedic version in Teen Titans Go! To The Movies, which was very enjoyable, too.
Now, however, it appears as if we’re about to get another iteration of the Terminator in season 2 of DC Universe’s Titans. We’d already heard that both Deathstroke and his son Jericho would be showing up in the next run and today, Deadline reports that Esai Morales has snagged the role of Slade Wilson.
According to the producers, here’s what we can expect from their take on the character:
“Slade Wilson is known for being DC’s deadliest assassin. While serving his country, Slade became an elite soldier before government testing enhanced his physiology to near superhuman levels, putting him on a path of darkness and revenge. To his family, Slade is a father and husband, but to the rest of the world, he is feared by many as the infamous Deathstroke; selling his services to the highest bidder as the ruthless assassin that never gives up and never misses.”
Though not a household name by any means, Morales certainly has a few notable credits under his belt, including his feature film breakthrough playing Bob Morales in La Bamba. Beyond that, he’s also been seen in Paid in Full, The Line, Atlas Shrugged: Part II, Jarhead II: Field of Fire and more.
Titans EP Geoff Johns has previously teased that a “very different” Deathstroke would be coming to the show and though we don’t yet know how exactly he’ll factor into things, it’s beginning to look like his inclusion will lead to an adaptation of seminal comic book story The Judas Contract. Or at least, we imagine that’s where they’re heading with this. And with an actor now cast in the role, hopefully it won’t be too much longer before we learn more about what’s in store for us on season 2 of Titans.
