Whenever an iconic character gets cast and recast over time, certain actors will naturally resonate with fans more than others – and there are some who just don’t go over well at all. In the case of Lex Luthor, I think many folks reading this will agree with me in saying that Michael Rosenbaum proved himself to be the best while on Smallville. But, to be quite honest, the guy has some serious competition now.
As you may know, Jon Cryer debuted as Lex during last night’s episode of Supergirl, that being “O Brother, Where Art Thou?” And while viewers went in skeptical due to the veteran actor’s history with the comedy genre, they were pleasantly proven wrong and ended up going absolutely nuts for the former Two and a Half Men star. Additionally, I’m not afraid to say that I, too, thought Cryer did a phenomenal job. In my view, this is yet another instance of DC TV doing things better than the movies.
Apparently, even Rosenbaum himself is in the same boat as the rest of us, giving the following high praise on Twitter:
“Jonny boy! You killed it! And they say I had a good head. That’s a perfect dome brother. Congrats Lex. Love, Lex! @MrJonCryer @TheCW @TheCWSupergirl By the way… you’re on my podcast Tuesday. Lots to talk about! Lex and Life! Tell your folks to subscribe.”
If you were to ask me, this Lex-on-Lex podcast sounds like a must-listen. Not only do I imagine that they’ll talk about the character quite a bit, but I’m hoping that both men will lend some interesting trivia as well.
