In the newly released stills, we see the Mad Titan decked out in shiny golden armor and brandishing a new sword. On his left hand, meanwhile, is his trusty Infinity Gauntlet, which he used to eradicate half the universe’s population in last year’s Avengers: Infinity War.

Incidentally, the villain’s latest look has already been the subject of a fair amount of speculation. Specifically, since the character chose to take off his armor during Infinity War because he felt that his gauntlet kept him protected enough, you have to wonder why he’s being so cautious in this next film. Moreover, if you already have a weapon that allows you to kill anybody in the universe at will, isn’t it a little redundant to also carry a big sword around?

Perhaps the most popular explanation for Thanos’ new accessories is that his gauntlet has taken some damage, and is no longer working as well as it used to. Then again, seeing how pretty much the whole universe is now out to get him, maybe the purple tyrant is just feeling a little anxious.

The film’s trailers certainly haven’t offered many hints on the matter, since the Mad Titan has yet to even show his face in any of the promotional footage. But regardless of what’s in store for Thanos, all will be revealed when Avengers: Endgame hits theaters on April 26th.
