It’s official, production on Arrow season 7 has now wrapped. The Emerald Archer himself, Stephen Amell, revealed the news on Twitter with a short message. “That’s a wrap,” the star wrote, followed by a reminder that this means he’s got just one more season to go as the Green Arrow. “7 down. 1 to go.”
Amell’s confirmation comes shortly after the show’s seventh season wrap party, at which Katherine McNamara – who joined Arrow this year as Mia Smoak AKA Blackstar – teamed up with her on-screen parents Amell and Emily Bett Rickards. Speaking of whom, the actress also revealed yesterday that she’d filmed her last scenes as Felicity, as she’d previously announced that she was leaving the series ahead of the final season.
When production resumes in the fall, it’ll be for just 10 episodes, as Arrow‘s eight season will only run for a few months before Oliver Queen’s story comes to a close in this year’s big crossover event “Crisis on Infinite Earths.” After all, it’s the worst kept secret in the Arrowverse that the hero will face a noble death in the multiversal crisis, after “Elseworlds” heavily hinted at the fate awaiting him.
Before we get to this sad end, however, the rest of season 7 still has to air. 5 episodes are set to come our way, with the next one promising to be a must-see for DC fans. This Monday’s outing is titled “Lost Canary” and will be inspired by the Birds of Prey – an all-female team-up storyline featuring Black Siren, Black Canary and White Canary.
Once Arrow ends, fans are also hoping for a spinoff, maybe based around Blackstar’s adventures in the world of Star City 2040. A sort of Arrow Beyond. Showrunner Beth Schwartz is open to the idea, but so far there’s been no hint that this is coming.
For now, be sure catch Arrow season 7 as it continues Mondays on The CW.
